Thomas Balch Dean (1810-1881)

Emma L. Dean (1846-1868)

 

Thomas Balch Dean was born on October 23, 1810. He was the youngest child of Samuel Holmes Dean and his wife Deborah Lewis Dean. Thomas’s grandmother (Samuel’s mother) was Elizabeth Balch Dean, daughter of Rev. Thomas Balch. Thus, Thomas B. Dean was the great grandson of Rev. Thomas Balch.

 

Thomas B. Dean became a farmer like his father.

On May 14, 1832, Thomas Dean married Catherine S. Fuller. They had three children: Balch Dean (1837-1899), Willard Dean (1844-1936), and Emma L. Dean (1846-1868).

 

Their sons, Balch and Willard, grew to adulthood, married, and had children. Both are interred in this family lot.

Their youngest child, daughter Emma L. Dean, who was born on December 31, 1846, died on September 24, 1868, just shy of her 22nd birthday. The cause of her death was typhoid fever.


Catherine Fuller Dean died on January 15, 1878 of chronic enteritis. Thomas B. Dean died on December 27, 1881 due to a fractured hip and exhaustion.
