Herman L. Congdon: A Grave in Two Cemeteries

Herman Leslie Congdon (1883-1884)

 

Charles O. Congdon was born on June 20, 1847 in Nova Scotia. He immigrated to South Dedham and worked in the railroad car shops as a carpenter. On October 2, 1879, he married Ella Flynn in Norwood. Ella Flynn had been born on January 6, 1852 in New Brunswick.


 

On September 3, 1883, the couple had a child, Herman Leslie Congdon. A year later, the baby died on October 21, 1884. He was interred in lot 70 at Old Parish Cemetery.

The family lived at the corner of Nahatan and Maple Streets in 1890. On July 8, 1899, Ella Flynn Congdon died. She was interred in Highland Cemetery, lot 34. At some point, her child, Herman, was removed from Old Parish and interred in the same lot.

Charles O. Congdon died on October 7, 1911 of heart disease. He was residing at 20 Warren Street at the time of his death.
