Jacob Guild (1782-1870)

Hannah Gould Guild (1787-1872)

George Henry Guild (1817-1856)

Jacob Guild was born on January 28, 1782 in Dedham. He was the son of Jacob Guild (1760-1839) and Chloe May Guild (1764-1848) (lot 85) and the grandson of Aaron Guild.

On December 4, 1808, Jacob married Hannah Gould, the daughter of Ezra Gould and Lois Smith Gould of Sharon, in Boston. The couple had five children: Frances, Charles, Henrietta, Maria, and George Henry.

They lived their married life in South Dedham. Jacob Guild died on February 11, 1870 of pleurisy fever. Two years later, just as South Dedham became the town of Norwood, Hannah Gould Guild died on November 17. 1872. The cause of her death was listed as dropsy.

Also buried in this lot is Jacob and Hannah’s son, George Henry Guild. He was their youngest child. He was born on October 5, 1817 and died on September 3, 1856 of consumption.

In the same family plot, with her own stone, Martha May Guild Kimball (1803-1898), Jacob’s sister, is interred.
